Located 150kms north-west of Melbourne and with a population of approx. 100,000, Bendigo is the “Heart of the Goldfields”. This is Victoria’s largest and most progressive regional town. Gold was discovered here in 1851 and the gold rush continued until 1954. The mining stopped for many years but recently they have recommenced mining deep under Bendigo.
