If you are in Brisbane and want to have a relaxing day, make sure to head to Southbank.  Southbank is situated on the Brisbane River with easy access from the CBD area via footbridges, ferries and citycats. If you arriving by rental car, you can also park in the underground parking that lies right under the Parklands.

Southbank has a number of activities that everyone can enjoy and more importantly, most of them are free.  There are swimming pools and a man made beach that visitors to the Parklands can enjoy.  Just remember in the hotter summer months, this area is very popular.

Southbank Parklands also offers easy access to movies and theatre productions and concerts.  The Southbank Cineplex Theatre is located on Grey Street and has 5 cinemas to enjoy the latest movie releases.  You could also catch a movie on the Imax screen which is amazing to watch action packed adventures.

Within the Southbank precinct you can also visit the Queensland Museum, Art Gallery and Maritime Museum.  Or you can enjoy an opera or concert event at the Queensland Performing Arts Complex.  There is also access to the State of Queensland Library.
